“I sculpt, therefore I am.“
My wood sculpture was started from a piece of bamboo many years ago. One day I was walking around the back yard of my house and trying to figure out something special as a gift to present to a friend of mine. A small piece of bamboo caught my eye, which was lying on the ground of the yard. Then an idea flashed through my mind ,to use this piece of bamboo to carve words on it as a gift.
Since I received several lessons on basic wood sculpture in junior high school,I picked up the bamboo piece and started to work on it. Later,I gave my first piece of sculpture to the person I assumed to present and got applause from the friend. This unexpected response encourage me to step into the career of wood sculpture. I worked on bamboo sculpture in the beginning. But I switched to wood sculpture eventually.
Wood sculpture offers me a new frontier to expand my imagination and creativity and that is what I am dedicated.
